MEET OUR DIRECTOR
OF PERCUSSION
Travis Mason is from Orlando Florida. As the only child of a very musically gifted family, Travis instantly gravitated towards the Drums. Travis received his first drummer at the age of 3 as a Christmas gift.
He joined the Band in middle school where his director noticed he was extremely gifted at drums and percussion. He became the section leader of the drum section his 7th and 8th grade year. In High School motivated by the movie Drumline, Travis began to become even more dedicated to the art of percussion. He made snare drum as a freshman in high school and later became section Leader his junior and senior year.
Knowing exactly where he wanted to go for college, Travis Auditioned for Thee Great Bethune Cookman University in 2007 and was offered a scholarship to join the Marching Wildcats! Travis struggled his freshman year but was determined to not let it defeat him. By Junior of college, Travis had worked his way from defeat to victory and became 1 of the section Leaders for the 50 member drumline.
After graduating with his Bachelors and Masters degree, Travis returned to Orlando in hopes to advance the inner city youth percussion community. Today, Travis is a Director of bands, chorus and percussion at a local middle school, a Percussion Instructor at a inner city High School and Middle School, as well as an accomplished Drummer in Church community

Educators I would like to introduce to you LEAD Drum Academy, a program dedicated to developing young percussionists through high-quality instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities. As we continue to grow, I would love to invite students from your band program to participate in our academy while using their own equipment.Our mission at LEAD Drum Academy is to provide students with valuable skills that will directly enhance their musicianship, leadership, and overall contribution to their school bands and percussion ensembles.
